Mundo Laguera was born and raised in Monterrey, Mexico and has been visiting the South Padre Island since 1969 after his Grandfather built a house here. “I have been vacationing here since the 70’s; every Ester Week, Summer, some Christmas and New Year’s celebrations. The Island has always been one of my favorite places to vacation. In 1981 I move to the Island to attend college for one semester and learned English with an interest in Marine Biology. At that point I became an Island resident and starting to enjoy South Padre Island as my Home.”

Mundo finished his college basics in Brownsville when he made the decision that South Padre Island was his home. “I decided to stay here on SPI but had to find work to help with tuition, books and living expenses. In the early 80’s after the Peso’s devaluation plans changed, but not my feelings for the Island. I became a Dive Master for one of the first SCUBA Diving instructors on So. Padre Island, worked at many restaurants, bars, beach rentals and then began selling Time Share at Saida Royale’s Beach & Tennis Club. My next move was to become a Real Estate Agent.”

“In 1994 my first daughter was born and at the same time I finished my classes and passed the TREC Test to become an active Texas Real Estate Salesperson. Since then, I have helped many clients find their dream vacation homes, condos, and other types of property on South Padre island. I have represented many investors from US, Mexico, and Overseas and participated in many of the beachfront lots that sold from the 90’s till present. I have sold many beachfront condos to many investors from Monterrey and US. and many still own those properties and they still enjoy the Island as much as I do. My second Daughter was born in the year 2000 and I started with a New Real Estate office, which lasted for 15 years. Now, working with Troy Giles Realty will allow me to help and assist many more Buyers and Sellers promote and sell their properties.”
